SCRAP HAPPY TRAVELLER

We left Dubai on Friday morning. Daryl travelled in Economy after being offered a free Business return for a future flight, plus $60 to spend on inflight duty free, as they were overbooked.
We ended up sitting on the tarmac for 2 hours. A couple of women felt unwell and medics were called. They finally disembarked and of course their checked in baggage had to be found. Also there was a mad flurry inside the plane as the crew had to identify the owners of all carry on baggage. Overhead lockers were opened and eventually all but 1 bag had been identified. That guy was fast asleep and found out later that his bag was very close to being sent off to the bomb squad, except for a luggage tag which had his name on it.
Extra security was to be expected as we entered US airspace but wasn't too bad. We had to put all belongings away and hand in blankets. Nothing allowed in laps.
Two hours in the immigration line added to our late arrival and the poor Emirates driver had been waiting for us for 3 1/2 hours. Still, he provided a cheery commentary as we drove into Manhatten.
We stayed at a Holiday Inn hotel, small room but very comfy bed and nice shower. We were able to walk our luggage a few blocks to Penn Station Saturday morning, to catch our train to Boston.
The 4 hour train trip was pleasant and comfortable.
Boston is a lovely city. We are staying in the Sheraton in a spacious room on the 24th floor. The view is fabulous.
Our sleeping patterns are way out of whack. I seem to be awake from 1am til 5am or so and then back to sleep for a short time.
Daryl has been to 2 Boston Redsox games so far, 1 loss and a win, against the NY Yankees. I go to my first game tonight. I'm off to buy a scarf as it is bitterly cold with an icy wind. D has come home frozen (almost) each night after the games. After the hot summer in Adelaideit's hard to adjust.
I'll add some photos later. Off to get a scarf for the game.
